The Hunger Games

The hunger games, by Suzanne Collins, is a series consisting of three fiction books that take place in the future where the land formerly known as america has now become know as Pamem. These books take us on an adventure through the lives of the citizens of twelve districts that are forced by their capitol (essentially their rulers) to send two children each (one of each gender) to fight against each other in an effort to show the districts that they (the capitol) are in control. I enjoyed these books very much because they gave us a glimpse at an alternative reality, and at the same time, brings us on a journey through the life of one of its citizens. I found the idea of the "hunger games" to be a very interesting demonstration of dominance but at the same time very creative. I found the series to be very exciting and all in all it told a great tale; up until the end that is, where the author created a less than happy ending and also left many holes in the story as to the faight of some of the characters.

In america there are several holidays that bring families together to share each others' presences ranging for dressing up in scary costumes, going door to door asking for candy, to searching fields for candy and hardboiled eggs that have been hidden by the "easter bunny". In my personal opinion, in years past i have found halloween to be my favorite because it involves dressing up as monsters and receiving free candy, but as years have past, christmas has grown to be my favorite. There are three great aspects of christmas to me, those being giving gifts, receiving gifts, and spending time with family that you may only occasionally get the opportunity to visit with.
